Italian shipyard Canados launched one of its perennially popular 86 motor yachts on Tuesday, with another due to make a splash next week, bringing to three the number of 86s launched this year.
The 26 metre yacht’s large deck volumes and sleek lines have made it a bestseller for the historic yard. But apart from these basic features, Canados, which specialises in semi-custom yachts, has tailor-made each 86 it has produced to different internal requirements.
The yacht launched this week makes the most of its 6.4 metre beam with living and dining areas on the main deck, while the four cabins are located on the lower deck and the crew area lies forward. Special features include touch-screen controlled air-conditioning and lighting, and a hotplate for Japanese food on the flybridge.
The interior design matches the exterior’s sleek aesthetic – glossy maple and black-painted ash were selected for the furniture, white-painted parquet for the floor and white leather for the sofas.
The second yacht has a similar layout but different décor – glossy maple and natural-painted wengé for the furniture, bamboo with a wengé finish for the cabin and bathroom floor, and travertine in the the shower rooms. The galley was designed by Boffi. The onboard entertainment system is controlled through an iPhone or iPad, and on the flybridge a custom-made cabinet hides an Iacobucci coffee machine.
The yachts each sleep eight guests in four cabins and have two crew cabins. They are powered by twin 1,800hp CAT C32 engines and offer a cruising speed of 29 knots and a top speed of 33 knots.
