The classic 1975 Camper & Nicholsons motor yacht Absolute Pleasure will go under the hammer on TheYachtAuction.com
TheYachtAuction.com has announced it is likely to reach its target of 20 boats for the website’s first online yacht auction on 22 February, with 15 entries to date.
The website was launched in December last year by a team of experienced auctioneers and superyacht brokers to make the buying and selling of yachts simpler and more efficient. The site is intended to bring a yacht to the attention of a larger audience than a broker is able to supply – but it is not intended to replace brokers and the company’s founders believe intermediaries could find it a useful tool.
‘We are getting the message out there, and are particularly pleased with the very positive response from experienced yacht brokers,’ notes director Andy McDougall, ‘especially once they realise that when they enter their owners’ yachts their broker/client agreement remains unchanged. We are also currently experiencing serious interest in placing larger yachts into the auction.’
Yachts listed on the site range from 14m to 35m and include both motor and sail. The site is modelled on successful auction houses that deal in classic cars, property and art, and like these, McDougall believes it will help establish true value by increasing interest in each yacht.
