Hampshire II yacht launch

The 78.5m yacht Hampshire II was launched by Feadship on 14 April

On Saturday 14 April 2012 Feadship celebrated the launch of the 78.5m motor yacht Hampshire II, hull number 806, at the Kaag yard.

Built for an experienced owner who is also a great sports and action lover, the yacht features a helicopter landing platform on the foredeck, finished in teak, which can be transformed into a playing field for basketball, tennis, baseball, badminton and football – with a giant net placed round the deck to keep the ball in play. Thrill seekers can take the lift up to the crow’s nest and then shoot down a zip wire to the water.

The contemporary exterior design by Redman Whiteley Dixon and Feadship incorporates balconies on either side: seating terraces for the owners and wing stations adjacent to the wheelhouse. Split-levels maximise interior volumes and deck space, while an extraordinary beach club is created with side platforms in addition to the swim platform at the transom. Finished in driftwood style, the whole area is incorporated into the deck above, which includes a skylight surrounded by seating.

A classically styled interior comes complete with a striking teak stairway and an English bar in place of the traditional lounge, and provides accommodation for 14 guests in an owner’s suite, with panoramic views over the games deck and two private balconies, and five mahogany-panelled guest cabins, which can be accessed directly through a side water entrance. There is fine detailing throughout, from the yacht’s glass name plate in a recessed part of the bridge deck fashion plate down to the Ferrari red, white and black colour scheme of the engine room. Guests can walk from their cabins along a suspended glass walkway complete with leather floor, past the yachts two engines painted in Ferrari red.

Mark Whiteley, partner at Redman Whiteley Dixon, comments: ‘Hampshire II is quite possibly one of the finest yachts ever to be built – we are immensely proud to be associated with her. The style we have created is homely yet contemporary and is tailored to suit the owner’s lifestyle. She takes bespoke to another level; every detail has been thoroughly considered and built to the highest standards.’
