The Rupert 80 by Rupert Marine

Swedish boat builder Rupert Marine has announced that its first 25m Rupert 80 is in production.

The original concept, by Thomas Rönnberg of Rupert Marine, took into account the way boats of this size are often used – as social hubs.

‘I feel that this boat is missing on the market,’ he says. ‘My idea is big social areas. The accommodation on this boat for an 80 foot is pretty small, but there are huge spaces for social activities, we have huge saloon and a huge aft deck.’

The design has an ‘aggressive, low profile’ and stylish exterior by Ted Mannerfelt, but beneath the finish it owes much to Rupert Marine’s experience with high quality RIB boats for military, police and maritime rescue organisations (as well as to Hakanson Marine, which designed the hull).

‘When I talked to my designer I told him that it has to be a work boat with a superyacht finish and styling,’ says Rönnberg. ‘But you feel the DNA from our work boats.’

The design is semi-custom, so for example the aft deck sunpads could be replaced with two tenders, or whatever suits an owner’s needs. ‘If you’d like to have a dining table with 10 chairs on the aft deck, that’s OK,’ says Rönnberg.

Similarly, the interior layout by Nauta Design is flexible, with either a two or three cabin version, accommodating four or six (and two crew).

‘We made one version with the galley down and one with the galley up,’ says Rönnberg. ‘Some like to have the crew downstairs, then they’ll have a huge area. But our client has his galley up – he wanted the galley to be with the main saloon, so when you are cooking, you are all together.’

The Rupert 80 has a top speed of 40 knots, a cruising speed of 34 knots, and a range of 850nm at 20 knots. The first model will be delivered next summer.
