Tulip yacht

Tulip during her recent sea trials

We announced her order in June 2011, and now she’s a reality. K&M Yachtbuilders have delivered their new flagship, the 26.83m sailing yacht Tulip.

Designed by German Frers Jr., Tulip looks like a modern-classic sloop above the waterline, but she has modern naval architecture and an aluminium construction making her light and fast, and undoubtedly a future strong competitor in regattas.

The interior, designed by Sinot Yacht Design, accommodates six guests in a master forward and two guest cabins, plus a crew of two. Light materials were also used inside to limit the total weight, Tulip having a displacement of only 51 tons.

Tulip is equipped with a carbon rig with a maximum sail area of 696msq, a lifting keel with variable draught from 3.2m to 5.1m, and she’s powered by a 215hp Perkins engine.

Eeuwe Kooi, owner of K&M Yachtbuilders, commented: ‘This ship is not just special for me and for our shipyard because it is our largest yacht to date, but also because we have really achieved this beautiful end result together with the owner.’

Launched a couple of months ago, Tulip was delivered last week to her Dutch owner, now cruising toward her home port in Mallorca.
