Admiral Tecnomar is debuting its latest launch, Cacos V, as well as its two new superyacht series – Envy and E Motion – at the Monaco Yacht Show, including two in-build projects and a 140m design.

Cacos V is a significant launch and debut for the Italian builder as it’s the first motor yacht launch since Giovanni Costantino acquired the brand in 2011. The 40m semi-displacement aluminum yacht is part of Admiral Tecnomar’s Impero series, and she features an aggressive, ‘military-inspired’ styling with a vertical bow. RINA recognised Cacos V class COMF (Y) 90, 100 for yachts with the lowest vibrations and noise levels.

During the Monaco Yacht Show, Cacos V is playing host to the Art on Waves exhibition, conceived by Admiral Tecnomar to ‘enhance art through boating.’

Admiral Tecnomar also divulged details of its new designs in Monaco. The Envy range of 33m, 40m and 50m semi-displacement yachts was produced in conjuction with The Netherlands-based design house Vripack. The E Motion range, meanwhile, was the result of a collaboration with Dobroserdov Design. The 52 and 55m metre designs – both in build with delivery due in 2016 – feature hybrid propulsion and are intended to combine sleek, modern looks with efficient power.

'Efficiency means hybrid,' says Sergei Dobroserdov. 'Diesel engines bring a boat to maximum speed, there is no other point in having them onboard. But in our experience yachts run at top speed for less than 5 per cent of the time, 80 per cent of the time they are at 10 or 12 knots.'

The 55m is full displacement and features two 1,029kw diesel engines and two electric motors to offer an expected top speed of 16.5 knots – at which speed she is expected to consume 515 litres of fuel an hour. But the hybrid system means that at 14 knots she is expected to consume 275 litres an hour and at 10 knots, just 95 litres an hour. The 52m will have a lower profile and a top speed estimated at 25 knots with two electric engines and four diesel engines.

Admiral Tecnomar also revealed a 140m design for the E Motion line, based on the same platform as a 147m commercial ship built by the Nuovi Cantieri Apuania yard. It will be diesel electric and offer a top speed of 18 knots. Dobroserdov was asked to develop sleek lines above the water, but leave the design of proven hull as it is. More details are expected soon.
