Chinese builder HeySea Yachts has reported a new build order for a 50 metre superyacht.
The order comes from a repeat client of HeySea who previously had a purchased an 18.29 metre HeySea 60 and 24.99 metre HeySea 82 yachts from the yard. He is now stepping up quite a bit with the leap to a 50 metre yacht, exhibiting his confidence in and commitment to building with the yard.
This is a step up for the yard as well, which has previously done well in the 18 metre-plus sector. It's most popular model is the HeySea 82, of which more than 20 have been sold in the past four years. Meanwhile, HeySea's 33.1 metre Asteria 108 has received four orders. The first Asteria 108, Contessa, was delivered in October 2013. The new HeySea 50M will be the yard's new flagship.
Constructed with a steel hull and fibreglass superstructure and displacing 530 tons, the HeySea 50M will feature an eye-catching axe-shaped bow. Naval architecture and exterior design is being completed in-house by HeySea's engineering and design. The interior design is reportedly by an Italian design team yet to be named.
Powered by twin 1,450hp Caterpillar C32 Acert engines, she is expected to achieve a top speed of 16 knots and a substantial range of 5,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. The HeySea 50M will draw only 2.7 metres, allowing access to shallow harbours. Zero speed stabilisers are planned for added comfort.
The HeySea Yachts 50M superyacht is expected to be delivered at the end of 2016.
