Hargrave Custom Yachts signs new order for 39.6m yacht Gigi III

11 February 2015

Hargrave Custom Yachts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, has signed a new order for a 39.6 metre tri-deck raised pilothouse superyacht, to be named Gigi III.

The buyer is current Hargrave owner Anthony Simboli who has said he wants all details of the new model kept completely under wraps. Simboli, who is selling his current Hargrave, says, “Hey, I want everyone to be surprised at what we create this time!” The experienced owner signed the contract for the Hargrave 130 at a lunch at the Jonathan’s Landing Club, attended by Hargrave CEO Mike Joyce, President Mike DiCondina and VP of Sales Peter Colagiovanni. It will be the third new Hargrave for Simboli.

Meanwhile Hargrave announced a price drop on his current boat, Gigi II, a Hargrave 125 raised pilothouse superyacht, from $13.9 million to $11.5 million, in order to encourage the sale of the boat at the Miami Boat Show which opens on February 12.

Hargrave's raised pilothouse superyachts allow the owner to have full use of the bridge deck while the crew operates from the helm station. The spacious layout of the boats also means owners can opt for a country kitchen layout.

The Hargrave brand was originally known as one of the top design firms in the US and moved into building in the late 1990s after founder Jack Hargrave died and Michael Joyce took over as CEO and President. Key to Hargrave’s build philosophy is customisation, and Joyce says, “Today, demanding buyers customise everything they purchase in life. The computer industry builds computers to order, based on each individual customer’s specifications, heck, even Wendy’s makes hamburgers to order, so why not yachts?”

The company reports it averages 14 to 17 yachts under construction at one time and that more than half of its owners are repeat customers.
