New St Kitts superyacht marina Christophe Harbour officially opens

27 March 2015

The Marina at Christophe Harbour on St Kitts has officially opened, the culmination of years of planning by an experienced superyacht owner and a collaboration with local government.

The first phase of the marina includes 24 alongside 45 metre to 67 metre berths that offer freehold berth ownership opportunities and can accommodate for 25.9 metre to 91.4 metre yachts. The marina also welcomes transient vessels as well as selling slips. Once completed, the luxury marina development will include a shoreside marina village with restaurants and boutiques as well as hotels.

Boat Internatinal reported on the official ground-breaking for Christophe Harbour superyacht marina in St Kitts, which took place last summer.

Led by superyacht owner and real estate developer Buddy Darby, the new site is a $100 million infrastructure investment that establishes St Kitts as a major superyacht home port and part of the Caribbean cruising circuit that includes Antigua, St Maarten, and St Barths.

“The arrival of The Marina at Christophe Harbour comes at a time when the yachting industry is stronger than it has been in years,” says Buddy Darby. “New yacht builds are up, charter business is booming, and there is a real appetite for new destinations like St. Kitts and Nevis that provide unique experiences. The Federation clearly understands the impact of the yachting industry and has positioned itself to maximize that potential.”

The marina features an entry and turning basin and is a designated point of entry with granted clearance authority. As a superyacht owner, Darby and his team designed the marina with the needs and desires of yacht owners and crews in mind and consequently visiting yachts will benefit from ample facilities and 24/7 security. There is also significantly reduced bunkering costs due to no duties on the import or sale of fuel, provisioning services, state-of-the-art pedestals and a state-of-the-art dock.

“Proximity to so many Eastern Caribbean islands, a skilled team on the ground, and SALT Plage seaside bar within walking distance to the marina really makes Christophe Harbour an ideal place to homeport,” says former superyacht captain Aeneas Hollins who is now Christophe Harbour’s director of yachting.

To welcome its first yachts now that Christophe Harbour is officially open, the marina is offering a first-season offer of three nights of complimentary dockage for vessels measuring 25.9 metres to 91.4 metres.
