Ibiza and the Balearics yacht season and weather

The season in Ibiza and the Balearics is a long one – starting in May and finishing in October. July and August are the most popular months when the islands are at their liveliest. Temperatures can hit highs of more than 30°C in the height of summer but generally average around 25°C.

Despite being extremely popular from July and August, the islands’ indented coastlines provide a multitude of sheltered coves to choose from. Visit early or late in the season for quieter anchorages, but if you want to experience the crème de la crème of the Mediterranean party scene, charter during July and August around Mallorca and Ibiza.

Ibiza and the Balearics yacht charter itineraries

With an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, Ibiza and the other Balearic islands are ideal for those who like to snorkel and sunbathe by day and party by night.

Each island has its own character, so charters can mix and match activities and anchorages depending on the guests’ desires. Common charter routes combine the highlights of Mallorca, including the gothic capital of Palma and its captivating Calas resort, with cool Ibiza and laid-back Formentera. The White Isle boasts some of the most beautiful anchorages as well as the top bars and nightclubs in the Mediterranean, topped off with incredible sunsets. And once you’re all partied out, the pristine sands of tranquil Formentera lie three nautical miles from the Ibizan coast. On Formentera, visit Playa Levante, see fabulous sunsets at the Blue Bar, and stop off at the stunning anchorage of Espalmador.

For dropping anchor, Marina Port de Mallorca in Palma has 200 berths for up to 50 metres. The exclusive superyacht marina at Port Adriano has berths for yachts up to 80 metres. On Ibiza, there are 425 berths for yachts up to 110 metres at Marina Ibiza and exclusive Ibiza Magna offers 85 moorings for yachts up to 60 metres, allowing larger vessels to also drop anchor outside the main harbour.

Legal requirements

Boats from other EU countries need only to clear in if arriving from outside the EU. It is advisable to check for updates on matriculation tax.

In order to preserve the diminishing Posidonia seagrass growing around Balearic coastlines, certain areas are covered by government-enforced no-anchorage zones regardless of yacht size.
