Celebrating its 55th instalment, Salone del Mobile returns to Milan this month offering some of the world’s finest, most adventurous and awe-inspiring interior design pieces.

One of the largest international furniture and design fairs, this year’s edition will welcome over 2,310 exhibitors from more than 160 countries, including superyacht interior design favourites such as Armani/Casa, Fendi Casa, Visionnaire Home Philosophy and Poltrona Frau. To help visitors navigate the Salone, it will be split into three divisions focusing on concepts of living, furniture and architecture.

Combining the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition and the new xLux division, furniture is by far the largest of these sections with more than 1,300 exhibitors. Offering both traditional and contemporary design furniture, this new focus on high-end pieces has drawn international names from the worlds of fashion and luxury including Roberto Cavalli, Versace, Aston Martin and Tonino Lamborghini.

This year's event will also welcome back the biennial EuroCucina exhibition alongside FTK (Technology for the Kitchen) and the International Bathroom Exhibition. Whether you’re looking for unique marble surfaces for your owner’s cabin en suite or the latest energy efficient appliances for the galley, this is the place to source them.

Thanks to the SaloneSatellite initiative, the Salone del Mobile has become renowned as an event that champions new talent and gives young designers a prestigious international platform. Now in its 19th year, SaloneSatellite takes the theme ‘New Materials, New Design’ for 2016 and will showcase work by specially chosen students from some of the world’s top design schools, culminating in the highly coveted SaloneSatellite award.

“The Salone del Mobile is one of Italy’s most important events,” said Carlo Calenda, Italian Deputy Minister of Economic Development. “A showcase of what the entire home furnishing chain has to offer international markets in terms of product quality and innovation.”

“We are gearing up for an extraordinary Design Spring, with a combination of events in which we believe and which will bring Milan to the forefront of international attention yet again,” added Giuliano Pisapia, Mayor of Milan. “The Salone del Mobile will enliven the streets and squares of the city, involving hundreds of thousands of fans, tourists, professionals and designers, making April 12-17 a great party for all.”

Salone del Mobile 2016 takes place from April 12-17 at the Milan Fairground, Rho. Visit salonemilano.it for tickets and information.
