Dr. Russo launches world’s first wash-on sun protection

Dr. Russo, the London-based cosmetic surgeon best known as the anti-ageing weapon behind some of the world’s most famous faces, has unveiled the industry’s first ever wash-on sun protection. The Sun Protective Skincare range is the product of five years of extensive research and aims not only to protect skin from sun damage but also to take a pre-emptive strike against the ageing effects of UV rays.

The products are designed to tackle ‘incidental’ sun damage – that we are exposed to as we go about our everyday lives – as opposed to the direct effects of sunbathing and tanning (which are best warded against with one of the best marine-safe suncreams). It is estimated that incidental exposure can account for 50% of the time an average person spends in the sun and, with 80% of ageing attributed to the effects of sun damage, protecting against this could have a significant effect on maintaining a youthful complexion.

The wash-on technology developed by Dr. Russo is particularly important in achieving this goal. Research by the American Academy of Dermatology has found that even those who apply a daily sunscreen typically use around a quarter of the recommended application. This means that those who think they are applying SPF 30 will, in reality, only be receiving the benefits of an SPF 5.6 or less.

Dr. Russo’s FDA-approved facial cleansers, moisturisers and serums leave skin covered in a layer of advanced UV filters and SPF 30 even after the products have been washed off. This unique delivery system ensures complete coverage and the products can be used instead of your usual cleanser and moisturiser so there’s no need to add an extra step to your routine.

“Having worked as a cosmetic derma-surgeon for the past 25 years, I have seen first hand the harm incidental sun damage does to my patient’s skin,” said Dr. Russo. “It led me to develop a breakthrough daily skincare collection which helps to reduce incidental UV exposure and increase SPF consumer compliance, to help fight the signs of ageing and also reverse damage already caused.”

The Dr. Russo Sun Protective Skincare collection is available exclusively at Space NK with prices starting at £65.
