Of all Ralph Lauren’s myriad scents for men, one has always stood out as the classic: Polo Blue. This fragrance has become a house signature because its fresh, understated aroma that perfectly embodies the Ralph Lauren world of traditional American values, outdoor pursuits and gentlemanly sports. To celebrate this olfactory triumph, Ralph Lauren has debuted a new film retelling the story of Polo Blue through the elegant world of yacht racing.

The new film is inspired by the elegant world of yacht racing

Filmed by iconic fashion photographer Bruce Weber and starring World of Polo ambassador Nacho Figueras, the advert follows a group of men as they compete in a regatta in a yacht named Polo67. Dressed in royal blue Ralph Lauren polo shirts and pristine white chinos, the men are, of course, victorious, receiving an impressive silver trophy and celebrating with their adorable children.

However, as one of the world’s best polo players, the experience must have been something of a departure from normal life for Argentinian Figueras – not that you would know from the confident way he handles the small racing yacht. To see what we mean, watch the film in full below:

“It reminds me of sitting by the ocean, staring at a clear, blue sky,” said Ralph Lauren of the fragrance, which is inspired by the scent of the ocean and the invigorating blast of fresh air one experiences when sailing. Featuring notes of melon, basil verbena and washed suede, Polo Blue is a light, summery and masculine scent ideal for this season’s aquatic pursuits.
