The Hackett guide to classic coastal style

To celebrate their shared traditional British heritage, fine menswear label Hackett and iconic gin crate Beefeater 24 have joined forces to create Pillars of Style – a series of style guides advising the modern man on fashion etiquette and outfit suggestions for every area of his life. Including, of course, a superyacht charter to your favourite coastal destination.

Whether you’re heading to the Mediterranean or the Caribbean, time spent on board is the perfect excuse to sport a little nautical style. Head of Product and Development for Hackett Accessories, Jason Dover, recommends getting into the swing of it when it comes to dressing for a day at a regatta or a sailing weekend.

Classic coastal style from Hackett

He says: “A nautical stripe jumper is a must for a day out at sea – whether you are meeting harbour side for drinks or manning the mainbrace yourself. Hackett boat shoes are one of our most successful styles of shoes - I actually own around 20 pairs and believe every guy should have a pair of navy and white shoes for the summer. And of course I am passionate about accessories so am pleased that men are taking bags seriously as they really can complete a look. In keeping with a nautical feel, I think a white and blue tote is perfect as a beach bag or a day at sea.

“Cufflinks are my favourite accessory that I work on and produce for the brand, and while they may be too formal for daytime on the boat there’s nothing better than adding a touch of class to an outfit for cocktails as you watch the sun over the yardarm. I love the new gold versions we have created for this Spring and Summer collection.”
