As part of his brand's 40th anniversary celebrations, last night (30 April 2015) saw the official opening of Giorgio Armani's Armani/Silos exhibition space in Milan. Launched to coincide with the Expo Milano 2015, for which Armani is the Special Ambassador for Fashion, the exhibition will remain open to the public until 31 October 2015 with installations based on the theme 'Feeding the planet. Energy for life'.
Housed in an old granary building that has been refurbished and redesigned by Armani, the first exhibition at Armani/Silos will take visitors on a journey through the fashion house's four decade history. Staged over four floors, with 600 garments and 200 accessories on display, the space also includes a digital archive for researchers and fans of the brand. A limited edition stamp has also been commissioned by the Italian Ministry for Economic Development to mark the opening.
The launch event began with a unique fashion show at the exhibition space's in house Armani/Teatro. The show featured pieces from the designer's critically acclaimed haute couture line Armani Privé - a red carpet favourite with many of the celebrities who attended the party.
The fashion show boasted a stellar front row, including classic Italian screen siren Sophia Loren and the fashion designer's niece and employee Roberta Armani.
