Hoek Design Naval Architects

History

Founded by Dutch naval architect Andre Hoek in 1986, superyacht designers Hoek Design have become one of the best known superyacht design and naval architecture practices. After graduating with a degree in naval architecture in 1980 Hoek spent a year working in the design office of C&C Yachts in Canada. He then spent six years as a salvage and heavy lift engineer for specialist company ITC before setting up Hoek Design. A passionate sailor, he has raced everything from Dutch traditional vessels to superyachts Adele, Marie, Eleonora and Lionheart.

Hoek Design was joined by aeronautics and hydrodynamics specialist Ruurt Meulemans in 1999, and in 2011 he became managing partner and is currently head of the design office. The current team encompass a broad range of skills from naval architecture to interior design, marine engineering and graphic design.
