The 85.47m Sunrays by Oceanco has recently been delivered and was the successful culmination of a challenging project for Burgess, who were appointed by the owners to manage the entire build process from inception to completion.

With exterior styling by the late Björn Johansson and interior design by Terence Disdale, Sunrays is a technologically advanced full displacement superyacht distinguished immediately by her unusual teal coloured hull.

Sunrays illustrates the capability of the Burgess New Construction division to provide the full range of superyacht technical consultancy services to clients embarking on a new build. The Burgess team assisted with the pre-contract design process of both the exterior and interior, managed the tender process and developed the technical and build specifications. Full project management of the three year build was also handled by Burgess who acted on behalf of the owners as the interface between the shipyard, designers and sub-contractors.

“The owners were intent on creating a highly innovative vessel with many unique design features and we rose to each challenge, no matter how complex, working in unison with numerous sub-contractors to ensure the requests became a reality” comments Sean Bianchi, one of several in-house naval architects in the Burgess technical team. High priority was placed on maximising the vessel’s interior volume and her sumptuous guest areas abound with many rare and precious materials, a sophisticated audiovisual system throughout and a dining table which converts to a stabilised billiards table. An extensive number of jacuzzis and pools, two heli-pads, two entirely custom designed tenders and 56 high powered underwater lights distributed around the vessel, complete the picture of a superyacht that has raised the bar in all respects.

With the yacht delivered ahead of schedule, virtually to the day that contracts were exchanged three years ago, Burgess are now assisting with final supply items and warranty issues. In the meantime, the owners have appointed Burgess to undertake full operational management of the vessel, including crew recruitment. The capability of Burgess as a genuine ‘full services’ superyacht company to offer comprehensive technical consultancy as well as operational management from an in-house team of experts provides owners with a streamlined solution to create, enjoy and protect their significant investment when commissioning a new build.
