Following last week’s presentation of the 2012 World Superyacht Awards, a number of yachts for charter or sale now have the cachet of adding the words ‘award winning’ to their name and here we present a selection currently available on the market.
Award-winning yachts for charter
Not only was the 67.2m Vertigo voted sailing yacht of the year, she went on to scoop the award for best sailing yacht in the 40m+ range.
Never available for charter until now, Vertigo is one of the most impressive and adventurous superyachts in Y.CO’s charter fleet. Designed by Philippe Briand and built by Alloy Yachts, she is the largest sailing yacht built in the Southern Hemisphere and, accommodating 12 guests, she provides the ultimate in luxury cruising. The interiors, designed by the renowned French design-house Christian Liaigre, are one of her star attractions, sporting an ‘urban at sea’ ambience with sleek surfaces and a colour palette of walnut, cream and black.

Winner of a Judges Special Award for an interior design with the widest appeal, the 70m motor yacht Numptia is listed for both charter and sale at Burgess. Delivered by Rossinavi, she has exterior styling by Design Studio Spadolini and naval architecture by Axis Group.
Vast interior spaces and intelligent design offer the height of luxurious living in a modern, light and understated elegance. Her stylish Italian interior by Salvagni Architetti is contemporary and calm and creates an overall feeling of pure, stylish simplicity.
Numptia offers a spectacular variety of large exterior deck areas, which offer guests the perfect platform for relaxing in peace and quiet or entertaining on a grand scale. The owner’s meticulous attention to detail is reflected in a truly fantastic, dedicated spa deck, complete with beauty salon, massage room, sauna, Turkish bath and a fully equipped gymnasium.
Numptia accommodates 12 guests in six spacious guest cabins (full beam master suite, VIP suite, three queen-size double guest cabins and one twin guest cabin). All decks can be accessed via an expansive circular staircase and a glass elevator, which links four decks, runs through the heart of the yacht. Designed with charter and private cruising in mind, all guest areas enjoy state-of-the-art audio visual facilities including full Kaleidescape on-demand entertainment systems. Fully prepared for a summer of cruising, this brand new yacht has touch-and-go helicopter capability and carries a comprehensive inventory of watersports equipment.
Numptia is available for charter at rates starting from €525,000 in high season and €490,000 in low season, while her asking price is available on application. For more information contact:
From Heesen’s 37 series, the motor yacht Aurelia was the winner of the category for Raised pilothouse semi displacement or planing motor yachts.
While the standard layout for Heesen’s 37 series is a five cabin configuration, the owner of Aurelia wanted more comfort for guests and more space for the crew, so designated a guest cabin for the captain. The result is a more realistic six crew for eight guests and everyone benefits from extra living space, plus a welcome and essential increase in laundry facilities. A further aid to comfort, especially when at anchor, is a pair of gyro stabilisers although these are also incredibly efficient under all conditions.
Aurelia is available for charter with Ocean Independence at weekly rates of €105,000 in low season and €120,000 in high season. For more information contact:

Award-winning yachts for sale
Numptia is available for sale as well as for charter. The 70m motor yacht, which was given a Judges Special Award for an interior design with the widest appeal, is listed for sale with Burgess, price on application. Delivered by Rossinavi, she has exterior styling by Design Studio Spadolini and naval architecture by Axis Group.
Winner in the category Displacement Motor Yacht Below 500GT, Helix was launched in August 2011 by Feadship. The 45m motor yacht offers a proven platform, with an established hull, superstructure, and exterior styling and her ‘Nautical Style’ interior has been selected by the shipyard, with traditional dark woods combined with neutral tones providing a warm and distinguished atmosphere.
With excellent volume and spacious living areas inside and out, Helix offers light-filled accommodation for 10 guests all on the main deck plus a convertible office for two on the bridge deck and would be ideally suited to charter operations. The overwhelming feeling of space in the master cabin is created by numerous floor to ceiling windows and exceptional headroom, which opens up to a skylight 3.2m above.
Lloyd’s classed, MCA compliant and fitted with zero speed stabilisers, Helix is asking €33.5 million in a joint central agency with Feadship and Burgess.
Awarded for being the most outstanding two deck open semi displacement or planing motor yacht, Shooting Star is a high-performance motor yacht launched by Danish Yachts in March 2011. Designed by Espen Øino, Shooting Star was built in lightweight composites and is capable of speeds in excess of a blistering 45 knots powered by twin 4,613hp MTU engines driving waterjets. A light, airy interior by Art-Line provides accommodation for up to 10 guests.
Shooting Star is listed for sale by Y.CO asking $22 million.
Judged the best Three Deck Semi Displacement/Planing Motor Yacht in her class, Satori was delivered in 2011.
The 49.8m yacht is part of the Heesen family with sporty lines that combine the exuberance of the 37 Metre Series with the decorum that one might expect from a larger yacht. Frank Laupman, from Omega Architects, was responsible for this, and his triumph was in combining these good looks with a range of spacious deck areas. He was helped in this endeavour by the highly practical requirement to keep the yacht’s tonnage beneath 500GT.
In principle, the layout of the interior by Rémi Tessier is conventional, with saloons at the aft of the main and bridge decks, and the master cabin set forward of a lobby and galley that occupy the centre of the main deck. On the lower deck is a stern garage that connects to the engine room, four guest cabins and crew quarters in the bow.
The four guest cabins – two large full beam VIP cabins and two smaller twins of equal luxury – open off a lower deck lobby lit with a luminous slab of backlit onyx.
Satori is listed for sale by Fraser Yachts asking $44 million.
