Delta Marine has a well-earned reputation as one of the USA’s premier yacht builders and many of its launches have garnered plaudits around the globe, including several ShowBoats Design and World Superyacht Awards.
Founded by the Jones family in the early 1960s, Delta began building high-speed pleasure boats, and then the finest charter and commercial fishing boats on the market. From the very beginning, Delta meant top of the line.
Located on the Duwamish River in Seattle, Washington, Delta became known as a trusted builder of seaworthy fishing vessels sturdy enough to brave the harsh waters of Alaska and the Bering Sea. It quickly became an industry leader, earning recognition for durable construction, reliable mechanical systems and practical maintenance. These qualities – and more than 800 delivered vessels – gave Delta a solid foundation for its subsequent development.
In the 1980s, Delta shifted its focus and embarked on the demanding mission it has since accomplished: to build the world’s finest luxury yachts. Since 1990, Delta’s new construction has consisted exclusively of superyachts of the highest distinction.

Mr Terrible | 2007 | 46.94m | $29,900,000

Superyacht Mr Terrible
Mr Terrible was built by Delta Marine in 2007 and is ABS classed and MCA compliant. Her interior by Adriel Rollins mixes Polynesian and art deco themes to give a harmonious contrast of primitive and modern. The yacht accommodates up to 12 guests in a master suite and four staterooms and her twin 3650hp MTU engines give her a range of 2,200 nautical miles at 14 knots.
Mr Terrible was featured in the 2008 edition of The Megayachts and also won an award for Best Semi-Displacement Motor Yacht over 40m at the 2008 World Superyacht Awards. Her interior design won Adriel Rollins the Newcomer of the Year title, as Mr Terrible was the Seattle-based designer’s first commission on leaving the Delta Design Group and setting up his own studio. An added attraction may be that she’s had a series of price reductions by a highly motivated owner.
Says her broker, Kevin Merrigan at Northrop & Johnson, ‘Her dramatic lines, smoked glass and sleek profile declare this yacht is powerfully built. Fashioned with impressive engineering, she can reach cruising speeds of 18 knots quite comfortably with a maximum speed of 22 knots. The interior has accents of varnished wood and pale furnishings, giving the feel and comforts of a modern home on board your private yacht. The master stateroom features a king-size bed and a walk-in cedar lined closet, as well as his-and-hers bathrooms and a full entertainment centre. The VIP stateroom features a queen-sized bed, and an en suite bathroom. Directly across from the VIP is the guest stateroom, with two twin beds and a full-sized Pullman bunk. The additional guest stateroom below has the same array of features. All guest rooms have full entertainment systems.
Murphy’s Law has space for 5 crew, as well as numerous dining areas and spaces to gather, making her the ultimate in comfort afloat. She cruises at a speed of 12 knots, with a maximum of 16 knots at full speed.
Her broker, Bob Cury at RJC Yachts says, ‘As a general statement it’s pretty much common knowledge among most experienced brokers that Delta builds the finest pedigree motor yachts in the United States. I have been fortunate to have sold Murphy’s Law for her original owner as Jamie, and this owner cruised her extensively from the Pacific Northwest to the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and New England. In the five years that he owned her she was almost entirely problem free in spite of his logging almost 5,000 hours. I don’t know of too many other yachts that could make the same claim.’
