The World Superyacht Awards honour the finest new superyacht builds delivered to their owners in the past 12 months. The finalists, selected from a considerable number of nominations, are judged by an expert panel and the winners of the 2012 awards will be announced at the gala evening in Istanbul on Saturday 5 May.
Yachts are grouped into a number of categories so they can be judged against peers of similar size and type. Each day in the lead up to the Awards we are highlighting the finalists in every category, and in part 4 we present the larger sleek sailers.
Here are the finalists, in alphabetical order, in the category:
Sailing Yacht in 40m+ size range
Christopher

Christopher is a 46m sailing yacht build by Pendennis to a Ron Holland design with interior design by a collaboration between Ron Holland Design, Courtney & Co and Pendennis.
Fidelis

Fidelis yacht | courtesy of Perini Navi
Perini Navi’s 56m sailing yacht Fidelis has naval architecture by Ron Holland Design and Perini Navi itself, and comes with a Perini Navi-designed interior too.
Hemisphere

Van Peteghem Lauriot Prévost designed the 44.2m catamaran Hemisphere, which was built by Pendennis with an interior by Michael Leach Design.

Hetairos

Built by Baltic Yachts with naval architecture by Reichel Pugh Yacht Design and Dyksta & Partners, who were also responsible for exterior styling, the 66.7m pilot cutter Hetairos has an interior by Rhoades Young Design.
Infinity

Designed throughout and built by Cobra Yachts, Infinity is a 46m sailing yacht.
Regina

Built by Pruva Yachting, which was also responsible for the interior design, the 56m Regina has naval architecture and exterior styling by Ark Yacht.
Sarissa

The 42.6m Sarissa was designed by Tripp Design and built by Vitters Shipyard with a Rhoades Young Design interior.
