The World Superyacht Awards honour the finest new superyacht builds delivered to their owners in the past 12 months. The finalists, selected from a considerable number of nominations, are judged by an expert panel and the winners of the 2012 awards will be announced at the gala evening in Istanbul on Saturday 5 May.

Yachts are grouped into a number of categories so they can be judged against peers of similar size and type. Each day in the lead up to the Awards we are highlighting the finalists in every category, and in part 5 we present the middle-sized motor yachts.

Here are the finalists, in alphabetical order, in the category:

Displacement Motor Yacht of 500GT to 1,299GT (approximately 50m – 59m)

 

Darlings Danama

The 59.5m Darlings Danama was built by CRN with naval architecture from CRN Engineering. Zuccon International Project was exterior stylist while Arch C & A Negoescu was responsible for interior design.

 

Diamonds Are Forever

Diamonds Are Forever is a 60.8m Benetti designed and built yacht with interior design by Evan K Marshall and Usonia V.

Galileo G

Built by Perini Navi’s Picchiotti yard, the 55m Philippe Briand-designed Galileo G has exterior styling by Vitruvius Ltd and a Perini Navi designed interior.

Harbour Island

Newcastle Shipyards built the 55m Harbour Island to a Murray and Associates design with an interior by Claudette Bonville Associates.

Kaiser

The 60m Kaiser was designed and built by Abeking & Rasmussen with Donald Starkey styling the exterior and Bannenberg and Rowell designing the interior.

Prima

Palumbo built the 53.7m Prima with naval architecture and exterior styling by Hydro Tec, while Design Studio Spadolini handled the interior design.

Turquoise

Dubois Naval Architects designed the 55.4m Turquoise, built by Proteksan Turquoise, which has an interior by HOK Design.
