Cantiere delle Marche to build new explorer yacht K42

Floating Life has contracted with Italian yard Cantiere delle Marche to build a new 42 metre explorer yacht code named K42, with delivery slated for late 2018.

Designed by Studio Sculli, she will be built in steel and aluminium as a ‘light ice class’ vessel capable of exploring the remotest areas of the globe’s oceans in complete safety and comfort.

The project follows in the footsteps of the K40 model, from the same team of Floating Life and Studio Sculli, and currently under construction at the CCN yard in Italy. The hull form was created using a sophisticated fluid dynamics programme and tank-tested in Gothenburg, Sweden. As with all yachts in this K series, the owner selects his own superstructure design, giving free rein to create a massive sundeck if desired.

Naturally, the new owner will have significant input into her interior design, but she is currently configured with accommodation for 10 guests in five cabins consisting of a master suite with a Jacuzzi tub and private deck, a VIP suite and a double and two twins, all with en suite bathroom facilities.

A large beach club is planned for the lower deck and twin 1,450hp Caterpillar diesel engines will power her to a cruising speed of 14 knots and a range of 5,400 nautical miles at 11 knots.

Floating Life, under the leadership of CEO Andrea Pezzini, have undertaken to assist the new owner of K42 in all aspects of the yacht’s construction and eventual management and charter functions.
