Previously named Ameena, Mbolo was built by Dutch yard Jongert to a design by the creative and innovative hand of Tony Castro. She was delivered in 2004 and went on to win the 2004 ShowBoats Design Award for best sailing yacht under 40 metres.
Designed for cruising, her keel was replaced by Jongert in 2005 at the request of the owner to increase performance, a change that was checked and certified by Lloyd’s. As a result, this yacht for sale performs very well in light winds but does not heel too much in heavy seas. She can accommodate up to seven guests in three cabins.
Mbolo was designed for cruising the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, as well as possible forays to North America and beyond. The owner wanted to play a hands-on role and be involved in all aspects of running the boat. This dictated a sophisticated yacht capable of being managed with a minimum of crew. In fact, the skipper and a single deckhand are all the help needed while cruising with the owner on board. A total of three can easily manage the boat on longer passages and deliveries.
Lying in Malta, Mbolo is for sale and down from €4.4 million to €3,750,000 with VAT paid.
