Talking to Mark Elliot of International Yacht Collection, he’s full of enthusiasm for his unusual new central agency for sale, the 52.9m J.R. Navigator. Built in 2000 by Freeport Shipbuilding for the US Navy she would, says Mark, make a great shadow boat. With a shallow draft and triple MTU water jets making her fast and very manoeuverable, she also has a range of 5000 miles at 15 knots.
Mark tells me that she could easily be reconfigured, either as a luxury yacht or an escort vessel and a heli-deck and air-conditioned helicopter hangar add to her attractions. Lying at the Trinity yard in New Orleans, her asking price is $6.9 million.
