Kestrel was built in aluminium by Turkish yard Kestrel Superyachts to a design by Ron Holland and RINA classed. Delivered in 2012, this yacht for sale is a high-volume, ocean-cruising ketch designed to provide impressive sailing performance capabilities with a small crew, along with stability, comfort, and low angles of heel.
Her designer and builder made every effort to create a pleasant and secure place for families, both those that are sailors or non-sailors alike. There are four large cabins for up to 10 guests consisting of a master suite aft, a VIP suite forward and two twins with Pullman berths amidships, all with LCD television screens and full en suite facilities. A variety of large entertainment spaces above and below deck easily adapt to different requirements while sailing systems are placed where they do not interfere with social activity.
Kestrel is ketch-rigged for ease of handling, and has crew accommodation for four. She was the first of a proposed semi-custom series where mast configuration, keel depth, layout, and even length, can be altered within the overall concept. Although currently privately used, she could easily be re-instated to MCA classification to make her a fine charter proposition. Under power, a single Scania diesel engine gives her a range of 2,800 nautical miles at 7.5 knots.
