Top 10 superyachts sold in 2012

26 December 2012 • Written by Raphael Montigneaux

It’s that time of year when we reflect on what has happened over the last 12 months. We looked at the largest yachts launched in 2012 on Monday. Yesterday we reviewed the largest yachts that were delivered to their owners this year. And today it's the turn of the 10 largest superyachts sold in 2012.

The overall sales numbers are slightly down: 247 yachts have sold in 2012 (we are expecting at least a couple more before the end of the year) compared to 263 in 2011. It is noticeable that the top of the market is down: we recorded 9 sales of yachts over 60m this year, compared to 15 last year. But at the same time, many new orders were recorded: you'll discover them in our next update tomorrow.

no name | 139.3m | $280,000,000 (estimated)

The largest sale of the year happened one month ago. No official details were provided, but we know for sure that one of the ten largest superyacht in the world changed hands. This famous vessel is now supposed to be based in the United Arab Emirates. Her price was not revealed either, but we think $280 million is a reasonable guesstimate.
