Lisa Peck sends word that YCO represented the buyer in the commissioning of a one-off 50m new build project with long-established pedigree yacht constructor Heesen Yachts. A fully custom all aluminium construction with a semi displacement hull and many distinctive features, the yacht will be capable of at least 21 knots despite its wide beam and is due to launch in 2013. The project will represent an interesting challenge for Heesen due to the curved design which is particularly difficult to build.

The yacht will undergo construction at Heesen’s new facilities in Oss, Holland. “The Owner decided to partner with Heesen to develop this exciting new project as their pedigree, experience, build quality and success with high speed superyachts is second to none in the industry. All-aluminium and curved glass construction is a highly complex business, as is guaranteeing the yacht will reach her contracted speed on delivery. Combined with the many other parameters of excellence required, we have every confidence this unique yacht will be something very special” say YCO.
