The London International Boat Show takes place every January at the newly extended ExCeL, in the centre of London’s Royal Docks with more than 1,000 boats on display – both indoors and on the Thames.
Throughout the 10 days of the show, exhibitors showcase marine products, services and equipment alongside a whole fleet of boats, from kayaks and dinghies to superyachts over 30 metres.
The 2011 show
Boats making their debut in 2011 included the 32 metre Princess motor yacht (the heaviest yacht ever to be lifted into the show) and the new Sunseeker 88.
For the first time in 2011, used boats were on display, with more than half finding buyers (including a Beneteau Flyer 12) and many sea trials booked for the remaining craft.
Nearly 110,000 people attended this year’s event, which saw the introduction of the Watersports Action Pool, plus a new boardwalk (dry marina). Other features ranged from the Knowledge Box, where boating experts share their knowledge and experience, through to the Cruising Chute, where visitors can learn how to master this tricky bit of kit.
The next London Boat Show runs 6 – 15 January 2012.
