When the first Swan 80 was launched back in 1999, there was an enormous amount of international attention. The Swan 80 was the first production Swan to feature swept spreaders and non-overlapping headsails. This, together with the clean deck arrangement, made the yacht far easier to manage with a small crew and the clean, uncluttered wedge-deck was as good looking as it was practical. With a big sail plan and deep T-bulb keel, the performance of the Swan 80 was outstanding and today, these yachts remain in the top echelon of competitive cruiser racers and are frequently seen at the top of leader boards in grand prix regattas around the world. The Swan 80 set a benchmark, not only for the performance but for the high quality finishing and luxurious interior that one expects on board every Swan yacht.
Ten years and 24 yachts later, Nautor decided it was time for an upgrade of the Swan 80 model and together with Frers Naval Architecture, went back to the drawing board to develop an entirely new yacht. The result, an elegant yet powerful carbon hull with fine entry opening out to a modest beam carried far aft. Plumb bow with deep T-bulb keel and balanced rudder offer superb handling. On deck, the classic wedge shape has returned with everything flush and recessed, even the sprayhood and bimini fold away nicely into the coachroof. Center cockpit for guests is away from the action and offers direct access to the saloon while the aft cockpit is for the sailors.
Down below, the contemporary interior is finished in bleached and oil waxed teak and generous lighting through the hull windows in saloon and aft cabin. The three guest cabins will accommodate up to seven with an additional cabin for three crew.
Berenice is the first of the new Swan 80 range and since her launch in 2010, has been carefully maintained to the highest standards. In 2014, she received a complete makeover and was repainted from the top of the mast to the bottom of the keel, including everything in between. In addition, all new batteries, upgrade to B&G H5000 sailing instruments and a new set of North 3DL marathon cruising sails have made this incredible yacht even more appealing.
