6 of the best Italian Sea Group superyachts

Nono

To celebrate the interview with Italian Sea Group's Laura Giugiaro in the September issue of Boat International_, we've picked six of the best superyachts launched since_  the yard was formed in 2013.

The first Italian Sea Group superyacht of our selection is the award-winning Admiral Impero 37  Nono.

The judges of the World Superyacht Awards 2015 gave a big “yes, yes!” to Nono, when she won the competitive semi-displacement or planning two-deck motor yacht of 30m to 37.99m category.

The yachts in this class were all high-performance, and Nono is no slouch, capable of a top speed of 53 knots, but it’s her ability to operate as either semi-displacement or displacement yacht – allowing for 3,200 nautical miles in displacement mode – that really wowed the judges.

Cacos V

Another Italian Sea Group award winner, Cacos V took the 2014 World Superyacht Award in the Three-deck semi-displacement or planing motor yacht 30 to 44.99m contest.

Cacos V marked a milestone for the Italian builder as the first in Admiral’s new Impero 40 series – and the first to show the new direction the yard was headed in after being purchased by the Italian Sea Group. Debuting at Monaco in 2014, the high-volume yacht, with an aggressive exterior designed by Luca Dini, represented the bright and diverse future of the yard to come.

Entourage

Italian Sea Group luxury yacht  Entourage, at 47 metres LOA,  heralded a new era for the yard. Coming in at 499 gross tons, she was the largest yacht launched by the yard in 2014, and she boasts an 80 square metre master suite.

Her owner briefed indoor-outdoor living, which is enjoyed in upper deck balconies and a 134 square metre sun deck with spa  pool.

Flying Dragon

Among a busy summer of launches for the Italian Sea Group in 2014 was the 44.8 metre Flying Dragon, hull sides emblazoned with dragons befitting of her name.

The cool paint job atop a trendy blue hull makes Flying Dragon a head turner on the water and a top Italian Sea Group launch, and she wows inside as well with an open plan main saloon and well chosen Asian-inspired details.

Doubleshot

You might not think of a sport yacht as a family yacht, but indeed the Tecnomar Velvet 36 metre Doubleshot was designed as just that.

Interior designer Ioanna Marinopoulos balanced _Doubleshot’_s art deco interior with family appeal. And the owner had a few special requests for Italian Sea Group that make this structurally different from her predecessors, including full-width steps that lead down to the swim platform, windows in the galley and lower deck to be larger and able to be opened, and no separate access for crew, giving the yacht a more casual feel.

Gigreca

In 2015, the Italian Sea Group really broke the mould by launching its first Silent series sailing superyacht, Gigreca.

The only sailing yacht among the prolific motor yacht builder's lineup, she certainly stands out as one of the Italian Sea Group's most unusual and best launches. With a decidedly modern interior styling and aggressive exterior styling fitting of the Italian Sea Group family, her motor yacht heritage is apparent.
