Top 5 pictures from the 2016 Cannes Collection

The line-up

The first annual Cannes Collection took place last week (June 2-5) and it was such a big success that the organisers have signed a long-term deal with Cannes Old Port, which ensures the show will run for at least five more years. To celebrate, here are our top five pictures from this brand new yachting and luxury lifestyle event.

More than 60 exhibitors attended the inaugural event, including some of the biggest names in the yachting world — from the 47 metre Heesen superyacht _Sirocco _to the 45 metre Palmer Johnson Blue Ice and 50 metre Amels yacht Malibu (but more on her later).

The venue

Key to the show’s success has been the choice of venue, with Cannes’ Old Port synonymous with yacht shows. Exhibitors praised the location and the timing of the event, coming less than a week after the Monaco Grand Prix.

Corrado Baldazzi of Pershing Yachts said: “Spring is the best moment to sell boats and this location is the best place to share the best products in the world.” Meanwhile a representative for Sanlorenzo added that they had "significant interest during the show with some really qualified people".

The custom tender

Given the sheer volume of custom yachts on display it was only fitting that the show itself had its own custom yacht, albeit on a slightly smaller scale.

This stylish Van Dutch 40 tender was kitted out in the show’s livery and used to carry VIP guests across the harbour.

The view from Malibu’s spa pool

The largest yacht on display at the show was Malibu, a 50 metre superyacht that was launched by Amels in 2001, and her sun deck spa pool offers one of the best (and most exclusive) views of the 2016 Cannes Collection.

This tri-deck design was refitted in 2006 and now features interiors by Reymond Langton. Exbhibited by Cecil Wright & Partners, Malibu is currently for sale, asking €19.5 million.

The British contingent

A trio of British-built yachts joined the collection for the opening year, courtesy of Sunseeker France. The 24.27m Harmony with her eye-catching golden hull takes centre stage here, but she was actually the smallest Sunseeker on display.

Completing the line-up were 26.30 metre Alfa Quatro and 28 metre Tommy Belle, which is now asking £3,495,000 following a recent price reduction.
