Benetti has launched the BY006 Crystal 140 Equus and kitted it out with an African styled interior to reflect the European owner’s passion for Africa and the sport of polo.

The owner’s designer, Polly Sturgess’ POD Interior Style studio, has created personal detailing which includes panels that imitate zebra skins while all the door and cupboard handles are in dark woven leather.

The radical interior design recalls a colonial atmosphere and evokes the family’s passion for the world’s most glamorous sports, polo – known as the ‘sport of kings’.

Contemporary interiors based on the original design of the 41.94 metre superyacht by Francois Zuretti are still present and were created by the Benetti in house design team.

Equus is the sixth unit of the Crystal 140 series to be sold since introduced by Benetti in 2011.

She features a full displacement GRP hull and superstructure and is ABS classed and MCA compliant, with exterior styling by Stefano Righini.

On the technical side, Equus is powered by twin 1,800kw MTU engines to give her a maximum speed of 15.5 knots, a cruising speed of 14 knots and a range of 4,400 nautical miles at 11 knots.

Designed for private use she has a spacious sun deck that includes a large zone towards the stern with settees and lounge chairs, while the jacuzzi is further forward. The same deck hosts a TV screen for guest entertainment.

The main deck is characterised by a large living area without tables. The owner's apartment is forward and includes a study, walk-in closet, bathroom suite and bedroom with a 180° panorama of the sea.

With the owner’s suite plus four cabins Equus can accommodate up to 12 guests while there are five cabins for the 8 crew members.
