Alex Clarke at Denison Yacht Sales tells me that the new build 72.5m HydroTec Explorer is now renamed Columbus Global Explorer and is ready to begin construction at the Palumbo yard in Italy.

Key features are: an infinity pool, helicopter landing deck, cinema, large upper deck private master study & suite, wine cellar, extra refrigeration & freezers for extensive passages of 6000-7500nm range depending on tank configurations, guest accommodation up to 16 plus the owners, ability to carry up to 45ft tenders with multiple toys, dive center with decompression chamber & custom storage.

There is also the possibility of utilizing Azipod technology versus the typical straight shaft and this superyacht can incorporate diesel electric power plants to make the yacht more efficient during her operations, not to mention lower carbon emissions. Construction would take around 30 months from contract signature and the asking price has been set at €50 million.
