Strametco BV and Royal Huisman Shipyard have announced a joint refit project of the iconic 70.7 metre superyacht Skat.

Dutch shipyard Royal Huisman will carry out an extensive refit of the Lürssen superyacht over the next few months at Strametco BV’s superyacht refit yard in Harlingen, the Netherlands.

Royal Huisman will provide wall plating, new floors and new hatches in the tender bay garage. The main and bridge decks will receive new furniture, while the Jacuzzi layout will also be upgraded by removing the bar and installing sunbeds.

Along with various electric and cosmetic repairs, Skat will receive numerous systems improvements including work on the shaft line and black water piping replacements. Strametco BV will be responsible for several jobs including blasting and preserving the underwater ship, and treating the tanks.

Skat is a twin-screw full displacement superyacht designed by Espen Oeino and delivered by Lürssen in 2002, with a prior refit in 2005. Boasting a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, she is currently ranked 135 out of the 200 largest yachts in the world.
