Lürssen launches superyacht Katie Sue II

1 June 2010 • Written by Raphael Montigneaux

Monday, May 31 saw the launch of the 60m superyacht currently known by the project name of Katie Sue II at the Lürssen yard in Bremen-Vegesack. She is the third launch for Lürssen this year.

Built in steel and aluminium, her design by Espen Oeino is an evolution of that of Linda Lou (2006) and Arkley (2009). Looking at the picture below, kindly sent to us by Lürssen, the biggest difference is the layout of the sundeck – the enclosed area is smaller, creating more exterior space, much of which is covered to provide more shade. The bridge deck has more windows and the wheelhouse has been modified to offer a panoramic view of the ocean. Finally, she has a vertical radar mast, similar to the one on Oasis (2006).

Lloyd’s registered and MCA compliant, her interior is by Glade Johnson with accommodation for 12 guests, plus a crew of 15.

Katie Sue II is scheduled to be delivered this summer, when her official name will be revealed.
