Video: superyacht Low Profile dropped

In an unfortunate accident captured on video, superyacht Low Profile was dropped during an offloading procedure at the Panama Canal.

The Tecnomar Nadara 40 yacht, built by the Italian Sea Group, was launched in June 2014.

Superyacht Low Profile crash landing in Panama

In the video above, an onlooker captures footage as the 40 metre tri-deck yacht is lifted from a cargo ship in Colon, Panama, on what looks like a blustery day. Colon is at the Caribbean Sea entrance of the Panama Canal and a destination many yachts pass through as they make the Canal crossing.

It’s likely no one on the scene, the videographer included, expects what will happen next. At around the 45 second mark the ropes on the crane lifting the yacht give way, and Low Profile slams down on the deck of the container vessel.

The exact date of the incident is unknown, but Low Profile was only at the builder's shipyard in Italy a few weeks ago. Also still unconfirmed is the exact structural damage caused to the yacht and any repairs that will need to be done and if anyone was hurt during the incident.
