Vripack designs sporty 24m yacht for Gamma Yachts

29 March 2012

Dutch studio Vripack has added a sporty-looking 24m yacht to its range of semi-custom designs for Italian builder Gamma Yachts. The Gamma 24 Mediterranean, a steel and aluminium semi-displacement yacht, is a sister design to the Gamma 20 and capable of similar speeds (14 knots cruising, 16-18 knots top speed), but her lines are smoother and more stylised.

‘We wanted it to have a different look,’ says Pim Dijksman. ‘We started out with the 24 displacement design for Gamma some years ago, which was then translated to the 20m semi-displacement.’

‘These have quite a recognisable shape, so with this boat we tried to keep that but fine tune it. We made it a bit more sporty, with a nice slope in the back, like a sports car, that runs all the way up to the mast.’

The design has an extensive flybridge, giving the large aft deck full sun coverage. Its shares the open-plan layout of the 20m, as well as a forward crew cabin, while fully opening saloon windows will give the interior alight, airy feeling. With the hinged swim platform, the yacht’s overall length is 27m. The interior design is customisable to owner requirements.

Gamma Yachts will present the design at the Hainan Rendez-Vous, which will take place in China, between 5 and 8 April.
