Cerri start 2015 with new order for 102 Flyingsport line

13 January 2015

Italian builder Cerri has started 2015 by celebrating a new order, hull number five of the Cerri 102 Flyingsport line.

The yard, based in Avenza, Carrara, signed the contract this month with the 31-metre boat going to an Italian owner. It follows last year’s sale of a Cerri 86 Flyingsport to an American owner. The 86 was presented at the 2014 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show.

Cerri is also presenting a new organisational structure, with a new CEO in Diego Michele Deprati, formerly CEO of Mondomarine and Baglietto. He will be supported by Guido Penco, who will be leading the technical department, and Giulio Bertani as Sales Manager, who will have the task of relaunching the Tuscan brand on the international market. Carlo Cerri, who founded the brand, will keep his position as Chairman. The new team will include Adone Pucci as Shipyard Director and Raffaella Daino as Communications and Marketing Manager.

The shipyard says the new structure will not affect ongoing projects, which include increased production of fibreglass craft, which is the brand's core business, and an expansion of its range into the custom market. Two fully custom lines are planned.

Cerri’s two most successful series – the Cerri 102 Flyingsport and the Cerri 86 Flyingsport – will be restyled with a more contemporary touch. In addition, two new lines of steel-and-aluminium and/or all-aluminium yachts will be built and the shipyard is working on the conception of a range of small superyachts between 24 metres and 35 metres, and of an expedition-style line ranging between 30 metres and 35 metres.

New CEO Deprati said, “Cerri is still a small, Italian-style shipyard, but I think that our plans, together with the enthusiasm and strong motivation that drive our team, will soon allow us to achieve amazing results. We are entering agreements with leading designers and we are supported by a great group, the Gavio Group, which guarantees soundness and reliability."
