Dive right in: exploring Cuba's bountiful marine life on board Far From It

This itinerary by Scott Miller, skipper of Far From It, which is available to charter with Denison Yachting, shows off Cuba's sensational marine life and vibrant coral.

Day One

Arrive at Cayo Largo International Airport and meet Far From It at the nearby marina. After lunch on board explore the coastline by tender. Cayo Largo is a limestone island only two miles wide by 15 miles long and has gorgeous white sand beaches and uninhabited cays to discover.

Spend the day at anchor in Cayo Largo and take your pick from a plethora of dive sites. The vibrant vertical coral walls and canyons are populated with coral fish, stingrays, bull rays, turtles and cat sharks. End the day indulging in sundowners in Far From It’s 60-jet spa pool, which makes her one of the best charter yachts for having a dip.

In the early morning Far From It will cruise 22nm to the mangrove- strewn Cayo Rosario. Spend the afternoon exploring the pristine diving off the island where the coral forms an impressive multicoloured labyrinth, home to black groupers, cubera snappers and dog snappers.

In the morning, you can try your luck at treasure hunting ashore – although be warned the gold is thought to have gone years ago. The real treasure lies under the water, which is home to brain corals and sea fans as well as hawksbill turtles, barracuda and goliath grouper.
