Spectating at the Auckland Superyacht Regatta
The 2021 Auckland Superyacht Regatta will take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (25 – 27 February 2021). Each day will feature one or two races with a staggered start for the Superyacht Fleet, with the first yacht scheduled to start at 1100.
The length of the races will vary depending on conditions, but are expected to be 3-4 hours in duration. Courses will include windward-leeward marks and outer harbour marks including islands and other navigation marks with one or two races each day, conditions permitting. The finish each day will be outside the clubrooms of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
Here's how to watch the Superyacht Regatta:
To learn more about the daily racecourse and additional racing information, please monitor the official race committee channel (TBC), used to communicate with competitors.
All spectator vessels are asked to stay well clear of the superyachts. These yachts will range in size from 25-90 metres in length and in some cases manoeuvrability is limited. Please adhere to any requests from the race committee.
Further spectator information will be available closer to the event.
The racing area is intended to take place around North Head, Rangitoto Island, finishing outside of the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. The courses will be interesting, varying courses for the three days of competitive racing, with public viewing of the start line close by.
For those who would like to watch the racing by land, the best view points to watch the starts will be North Head, Devonport and Bastion Point, Orakei depending on the daily set race courses. The best location to view the finish will be from Westhaven Drive, Westhaven or the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron.
