Aiming to highlight the plight of the world’s oceans and celebrate the pioneering individuals who are bringing about change nominations are open for the Ocean Awards 2023.
Held in partnership with Blue Marine Foundation, one of the UK’s leading ocean conservation charities, this year marks the ninth edition of the awards. Nominations are open to people, organisations and projects that have helped the health of the oceans over the past 12 months.
Previous individual winners have included Dr Lauren Biermann, who utilised satellite data to find patches of floating plastic litter from space, and Professor Judi Wakhungu for her campaign to ban plastic bags in Kenya. Past projects that have been recognised include The Sea Change Project, for the film My Octopus Teacher, and The Ocean Race’s sustainability programme.
Nominations will close on January 27 and the winners will be celebrated in the June 2023 issue of BOAT International. Further information about the categories and terms and conditions can be found below.
