Young Designer of the Year: What Have The Winners Been up to Since the Competition?

Since 2008, the Young Designer of the Year Award celebrates the original concepts of student and trainee designers from around the globe. This highly regarded award tasks young designers with a realistic client request to challenge their ideas, technical ability and aptitude for delivery. For many years, superyacht shipyard Oceanco has supported this competition.

“As a young and forward looking company we try to reach out to young and new designers to give them a platform to express and test their visions against our engineers and naval architects and push the envelope in what is feasible and practical in yachting,” says Paris Boulamis, Group Marketing Manager at Oceanco. “We support the young designers as each and everyone one of us is an Ambassador… At Oceanco, we follow new design talent with great interest and are pleased to be able to encourage and celebrate their vision.”

The award programme provides the winner with the unique opportunity to receive critical acclaim in front of an international audience of superyacht owners, designers and industry leaders, and network among the most influential players in the yachting industry.

Many have gone one to successful careers within the industry or established their own studios.
