Daniel, New York City

Everything here is easy. The atmosphere, the staff, the food, all of it wonderfully pleasant, a restaurant in which you can while away the hours with good friends. Daniel has been a trendy hot-spot for a few years now but there's a reason for that and based on the buzz within the high ceilings, it's not likely to change.

As for the food, it's everything you hoped for and more in terms of fine French cuisine. Expect flambéed fois gras, savoury dusted crêpes, truffled cod and mouth-watering Chantilly cream. We'd recommend the six-course prix fixe menu for a proper festive indulgence that will see the year off perfectly.
