On November 14, 2017, Christie's London will be hosting a sale of some of the finest Lalique pieces created throughout the brand's century-long history. Founded in 1888, the brand became internationally renowned for its unparalleled glass and crystal wares, particularly during the Art Deco and Art Nouveau eras, and remains current today thanks to collaborations with contemporary artists such as Damien Hirst.

Alongside the tableware, vases and lighting for which Lalique is known, the 101 lots in the sale will also include ocean-inspired interior design pieces and rare objects pertaining to the life and work of the brand's founder Rene Lalique. Of particular note to collectors of Lalique's work will be this portrait of the founder at work painted by his daughter Suzanne in 1931.
