28 March 2019

Having a garage filled with the latest superyacht tenders and must-have water toys is all well and good but a few choice interiors gadgets can make all the difference to your time spent on board. Read on for our edit of the latest must-haves...

KEF LS50 Wireless Nocturne speakers

This superb luxury collaboration combines the design smarts from a master in the world of interior design with the sonic clout of an audiophile brand that is respected worldwide. Dutch designer Marcel Wanders and KEF's Nocturne speakers are inspired by the concepts of rhythm, with geometric shapes and musical notation symbols emblazoned on the front of the peerless LS50 speakers.

As an added bonus for disco animals, these symbols glow under black light. The speakers use a 192kHz/24 bit hi-res digital signal in combination with KEF’s Uni-Q driver to allow the tweeter to be located in the acoustic centre of the bass/mid-range cone. The result is a source that disperses sound evenly throughout a space at a quality normally associated with a system four times the price.

Meural canvas

This 27.5in full HD digital picture frame has a dedicated app, Alexa voice and gesture control and a clever light sensor that adjusts the screen to reduce glare; pictures look lifelike and textured, just like they do in a gallery. It’s a world away from the cheap-and-cheerful digital frames of a few years back, helped in no small part by the inclusion of 100 free pictures, or the option of subscribing ($4.95 a month or $39.95 a year) for access to 30,000 images.

Barisieur coffee alarm clock

Using induction heating and stainless-steel ball bearings, water boils and is siphoned over grounds or leaves to drip into the matching cup while you sleep.

Ember travel mug

This is a revelation to those who make a cuppa and then promptly forget about it until they find it cold several hours later. Ember is a 355ml travel mug with a hidden heating element that can keep your drink just right for as long as you need. Choose your preferred temperature – 50°C to 62.5°C – via its iOS app or your Apple Watch and the convection-based elements built into the cup wall keep things consistent, eliminating any hot spots.

Cubic Pulse 160 jellyfish tank

Cubic’s flagship 46 gallon jellyfish aquarium is so large it can house a wide variety of jellyfish species all illuminated by its inbuilt LED lighting system. Originally designed for commercial locations, its simple-to-maintain filtration system also makes it suitable for keeping jellyfish at home or on board. The tank is made of scratch-resistant cast acrylic that is formed, assembled and polished by hand.

Loewe Bild 9 OLED 4K smart TV

The flagship set from Loewe is the first product from the brand that has been imagined by the company’s incoming creative director, Bodo Sperlein. He’s taken Loewe’s formidable Bild 7 4K HDR OLED and, by concentrating purely on what can be done with the frame rather than the screen, has turned it into the beautiful Bild 9. The shape for the set’s stand is inspired by linear sculptures and thus plays with perspective. Suddenly, with a set such as this (which comes in 55 inch or 65 inch versions), the television becomes the design focus of the space.

You can also take full control, making tweaks from your iPad.
