Rolls-Royce Dawn: Meet the car as luxury as your superyacht

Following on from its summer studio in Porto Cervo and the unveiling of its bespoke Phantom inspired by yachts, Rolls-Royce has launched a new super-luxury car aimed squarely at the superyacht set.

The Rolls-Royce Dawn is a sleek four-seater drophead which the maker promises will mark ‘a new age of open-top luxury motoring’. Already voted Luxury Car of the Year by Top Gear, the new Dawn takes its cues from the classic 1950s Silver Dawn - of which only 28 were ever made – and aims to make the luxury driving experience more youthful, fun and sociable.

The new Rolls-Royce Dawn is purpose built for tackling coastal roads

As the video below shows, the Dawn is purpose built to tackle some of the best coastal roads to drive and is undeniably the chicest way to travel from private airfield to superyacht marina. The canvas roof folds away silently in just 22 seconds leaving you to enjoy the warm Mediterranean sunshine from the comfort of tan leather seats and polished wood interiors. Of course, should another colour scheme take your fancy bespoke options are available.

Under the bonnet the Dawn houses a 6.6 litre V12 engine that offers a top speed of 155mph and can propel the car from 0-62mph in 4.9 seconds – not bad for a vehicle that’s more interested in turning heads on the Croissette than getting you from A to B in record time.

“Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. “It will be the most social of super-luxury drophead motor cars for those who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s most exclusive social hotspots. Quite simply, it is the sexiest Rolls-Royce ever built.”

The Rolls-Royce Dawn is available now with prices starting at £250,000. Visit rolls-roycemotorcars.com.
