Top 8 yachting pieces from 2015’s CoolBrands list

Apple

As any yacht owner will know, there are few experiences cooler than cruising on your own superyacht. But once you have your dream yacht there are a huge range of brands vying for your custom with their gadgets, clothing and other must-haves. So how to pick? As the 2015 edition of the CoolBrands list is unveiled, we pick the best yachting products from this year's winners.

Apple

For the fourth year in a row American tech giant Apple has dominated the annual CoolBrands list. However, while it was the iPad and iPhone that kept it in the top spot thus far, the recent launch of the Apple Watch has undoubtedly helped promote Apple’s popularity. One of the best smartwatches on the market, thanks to a number of bespoke apps allowing owners to call stewards, adapt lighting and choose music, films or television programmes at the touch of a button, the Apple Watch has huge potential in the superyacht industry.

Ray-Ban

A great pair of sunglasses is an absolute yachting wardrobe essential. Offering some of the best sunglasses for men and women, Ray-Ban’s signature designs are absolute classics known across the globe for their enduring style. This season eschew traditional Wayfarers or Aviators for the more modern Clubmasters. Choose tortoiseshell frames with yellow accents for a subtle yet statement look.

Nike

With its leading workout app and sponsorship of top teams and athletes including FC Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mo Farah and Tiger Woods, it’s no wonder Nike has had such a great impact on public consciousness. Luckily their sports clothing and equipment lives up to the hype - whether you’re working out on your superyacht gym or taking a walk ashore, make sure your trainers are as custom as your superyacht with these Roshe One Knit Jacquard iD sneakers.

Netflix

Internet streaming service Netflix has become so ubiquitous that, even if you aren’t one of the millions that has already signed up, then you almost certainly know exactly what it is. A must-have for the best superyacht outdoor cinemas, with so many great options why not screen our top pick Maidenhead next? This true-life story tells the tale of Laura Dekker, a 14-year-old girl from The Netherlands who overcame the odds to become the youngest sailor to circumnavigate the world solo.

Alexander McQueen

Thanks to Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, the hugely popular exhibition that drew huge crowds to both New York’s Met and London’s V&A museums in recent years, it’s no surprise that Alexander McQueen became this year’s highest ranking luxury fashion brand. Get your own slice of the British brand’s gothic chic with this super soft mutton leather carry-all - undoubtedly one of the best weekend bags for superyacht getaways.

Chanel

Under the creative direction of design icon Karl Lagerfeld, along with the help of some superyacht-loving models including Cara Delevingne and Chanel Iman, Parisian fashion house Chanel has gone from strength to strength over the last decade. Founded by the legendary Coco Chanel - the woman who first popularised sun tans and Breton tops - this season invest in the brand’s nautically-inspired Les Beiges compact before heading to the forthcoming Mademoiselle Prive exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery.

Aston Martin

Thanks to the buzz around the hotly anticipated release of Spectre, James Bond’s favourite car brand is thriving from the association. Sadly Aston Martin has yet to follow in BAC’s footsteps by creating a yacht-friendly supercar but they have created a limited edition vehicle, accessories and lifestyle items to go with the film. However, we think the soon-to-be-launched Aston Martin AM37 sportsboat is a much better investment.

Adidas

Evidencing an ever-increasing public interest in fitness and health, Adidas is the second sports brand to make this year’s top 20. With sponsorship deals spanning sports from artistic gymnastics to cricket and swimming to field hockey, if there’s a sport you love, Adidas almost certainly has the kit for it. However, for those whose passions lie closer to the ocean, the brand recently launched a pair of trainers created from recycled ocean rubbish. Sadly they are not yet for sale so, until then, we suggest you pack a pair of their simple yet chic swimshorts instead.
