Felix Buytendijk

History

Dutch superyacht designer Felix Buytendijk was born in 1950 and studied for a degree in interior architecture, graduating in 1978. He set up his design studio in The Netherlands in 1980, initially concentrating on shops, restaurants, offices and private residential projects. In 1982 Buytendijk’s interior design spread to superyachts when he received his first motor yacht commission, and since then his interior design studio has expanded to cover interior design and exterior styling for a wealth of new builds and superyacht refit designs over 30 years.

Notable yachts

Felix Buytendijk superyacht designs include the interior design and exterior styling of the 60 metre Nobiskrug Jamaica Bay, the custom interior of 45 metre Hakvoort My Trust, and the exterior and interior design of the 91 metre Evergreen – rebuilt by US industrialist Dennis Washington as Attessa IV. Buytendijk also created the exterior and interior design of Lars, a 36.5 metre tug conversion.

Specialisations

Felix Buytendijk has been involved in a number of superyacht refits and superyacht conversions, specialising not only in the interior and exterior design but also in bringing the yachts within current rules and regulations. In addition, extensive non-yacht projects such as residential and commercial interior design projects still make up a large part of the studio’s portfolio. Buytendijk yacht awards include a ShowBoats award for the most innovative motoryacht in 1995 for the 37 metre Lady Tiffany.
