Terence Disdale

History

Superyacht designer Terence Disdale has been responsible for designing more than 100 yachts in his extraordinary 40-year career, including more than 50 superyachts over 45 metres. Terry Disdale worked as a design assistant to the late, legendary superyacht designer Jon Bannenberg for several years, and left to set up Terence Disdale Design in 1973.

Disdale’s interior design style is wide ranging, and often follows his mantra of ‘beach house not penthouse’. Known for his flamboyant personality and considered by many to be the original ‘rock star’ designer, his passions include fishing and his classic XK120 Jaguar.

Notable yachts

Terry Disdale has had a hand in the design of many of the world’s largest and most famous superyachts, including Roman Abramovich’s 165 metre Eclipse, the interiors of Abramovich’s former 115 metre superyacht Pelorus and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s 92.4 metre Tatoosh, interior design and exterior styling of the 140 metre Al Salamah, the interior design for the 90 metre Ice (ex-Air), and the exterior and interior design of Abramovich’s former 86 metre superyacht Ecstasea.

Specialisations

Terry Disdale has collaborated with a number of designers, and has completed several projects with renowned superyacht designer Tim Heywood. Disdale and his team also design private jets. His numerous awards over the years culminated in receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award at the ShowBoats Design Awards 2014.
