State of the art Marina Cala del Forte Nears Completion

1 October 2020

Finding a berth for your yacht in Monaco – the glamorous heart of the Riviera – has always been one of the superyacht season's biggest challenges. The highly coveted berths in Hercule and Fontvieille are at a premium and, owing to the depth of the Monaco seabed, enlarging these two beloved ports will never be an option.

But there is hope – and berth space – on the horizon. Just across the Italian border in Ventimiglia, a city picturesquely nestled between the Italian Riviera and the French Riviera, the team at Monaco Ports are nearing completion on an exciting project. It is one that brings together their expertise, knowledge and values in a new state-of-the-art marina: Cala del Forte.

Protected naturally from the elements with controlled access from the land, Cala del Forte marina has been custom designed to be a new nautical centre worthy of superyachts in the region. Boasting 178 berths for yachts 70m+, this unique marina will be a safe haven for a wide array of vessels – from luxury day boats to the world’s most magnificent megayachts – all within just eight nautical miles of Monaco. As well as being the perfect sister marina to Port Hercule and Port of Fontvieille, Cala del Forte also currently holds the title of the longest concession in the Mediterranean with a duration spanning until 2094.

From the start, Cala del Forte's vision has been to become one of the most secure and convenient marinas on the Riviera. With the Italian town of Sanremo on one side and Monaco and sunny Menton on the other, it is perfectly positioned as a jumping off point for cruising this iconic stretch of Mediterranean coastline. But, crucially, it promises to be so much more than a stop-and-go base.

This is a marina designed for a carefully considered, world class yachting experience. Its technologically-advanced docks have been built to the highest standards to ensure a secure, seamless stay. Yachts will have access to everything they need – power, potable water, in-slip pump out and fuel delivery services, storage, WiFi, 24 hour security, and haul out for yachts up to 30m. Everything will be operated under the strictest health and safety guidelines, and the efficient, highly knowledgeable dock team will be on hand for 24/7 support.

Shoreside, the marina will also feature a secure underground parking lot for 577 cars, as well as a selection of 35 high end shops and restaurants. When you add this to Ventimiglia's famous, bustling Friday market on the seafront and its own excellent restaurants and shops, it makes Cala del Forte an extremely attractive place to provision and begin charters in the area.

True, the glitz of the Côte D'Azur may be just a twenty minute cruise away, but Ventimiglia has plenty to draw visitors in itself. Located on the Riviera dei Fiori – the Riviera of Flowers – at the mouth of the Roya River, the city is renowned for its idyllic scenery, the charming architecture in its historic old town centre and a favourable climate all year round.

For those looking for a berth at a state-of-the-art marina in the heart of the Med's most iconic cruising ground, Cala del Forte offers a truly rare opportunity, and they are now accepting reservations for berths starting October.
